Dr. Heinrich Gruber, Dean of the Evangelical church of West Berlin, received an honorary degree last night at exercises marking the opening of the 41st academic year of the New York School of Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion, the Reform rabbinical seminary.
Others who received such degrees were Dr. Hans Jonas, professor of philosophy of the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research, Aaron Rabinowitz, philanthropist and pioneer in public housing, and Rabbi Samuel H.Gordon of Rye, New York.
