A national campaign to line up support for a bill pending in the United States Senate for the liberalization of the immigration laws was launched today by the Workmen’s Circle, according to an announcement by Nathan Chanin, general secretary of the fraternal order. The bill, introduced by Senator Philip A. Hart, Michigan Democrat, and co-sponsored by 24 Senators, would allow for an overall increase in immigration into the United States from the 156,000 now permitted to approximately 250,000.
