The cornerstone was laid here for the Biblical and archaeological museum to be named for Samuel Bronfman, prominent Canadian-Jewish philanthropist, whose children contributed $1,000,000 for the project in honor of Mr. Bronfman’s 70th birthday. The building will be part of a larger complex, which will include the Bezalel National Museum and the Shrine of the Book to house the Dead Sea scrolls.
The ceremony, presided over by Education Minister Abba Eban, was attended by Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, Canadian Ambassador and Mrs, Andrews, members of the diplomatic corps, and Eliahu Elath, president of the Hebrew University.
