Culture Council Notes Expansion of Hebrew Courses in Various Cities

Recent expansion of Hebrew language courses in public junior and senior high schools in various cities was reported here today by Judah Lapson, director of the Hebrew-Culture Council of the Jewish Education Committee of New York.

Addressing a gathering at which 160 high school students were awarded the Council’s “Golden Ayin” pins for excellence in Hebrew language, Mr. Lapson announced that Hebrew classes were introduced for the first time this year in high schools in Elmira, N. Y., Detroit, and Philadelphia.
