The National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods today called upon the United States and the United Nations to inquire into “the freedom of the Jewish communities in Communist countries to have religious, spiritual and cultural contact and exchange with their co-religionists throughout the world.” In a resolution adopted at the organization’s 19th biennial convention here, the delegates urged the Government and the UN to “take such steps, Jointly and severally as will ameliorate the situation of Soviet Jewry.”

In other resolutions, the U.S. Government was called upon to exercise its efforts in promoting peace in the Middle East, and to ratify “speedily” the United Nations Convention Against Genocide.
