More than 1, 000 persons, including delegates from many centers in the United States and Canada, participated here at a dinner celebrating the 65th anniversary of the formation of the Bund, the Jewish Socialist movement which played a vital role in the organization of Jewish workers in Eastern Europe.

The Bund was particularly active during Czarist days in Russia, was persecuted by the Communist regime, and was an important element in other East European Jewish communities outside the USSR between the two World Wars. Dr. Emanuel Sherer, chairman of the event; I. T. Zuckerman, as representative of the Workmen’s Circle; and Louis Nelson, a vice-president of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union were among the principal speakers.
