Dr. Astorre Mayer, Italian Jewish leader, will be the principal speaker at the 48th annual meeting of the Joint Distribution Committee in New York this Thursday, it was announced today by JDC chairman Edward M. M. Warburg.
Dr. Mayer, who is president of the Milan Jewish community, is also chairman of The Standing Committee on European Jewish Community Services, composed of Jewish communal leaders of 14 European countries. Other speakers at the year-end conference will include Moses A. Leavitt, JDC executive vice-chairman, and Charles H. Jordan, director-general for overseas operations.
