The new translation of the Pentateuch, the first Five Books of Moses, has been chosen by the Book of the Month Club as an “alternate choice” for its subscribers.
The new text, which will be published next January 28 by the Jewish Publication Society, is the first portion of what is scheduled to be a completely modern-language version of the Old Testament, prepared by a committee headed by Dr. Harry M. Orlinsky.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
