The Rinat Choir, Israel’s foremost choral ensemble, performed at Carnegie Hall here tonight under the direction of Gary Bertini. The choir appeared in New York City as part of a cultural exchange tour on behalf of the National Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. and is sponsored by the Music Alliance of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
The Rinat Choir, composed of 40 mixed voices, is considered a leading a capella choir in Europe. Founded in 1955, it won first prize a year later in the International Choral Contest in Paris. In 1960 it was acclaimed as the outstanding choral group at the Fifteenth Festival of Sacred Music in Perugia, Italy.
