Forty organizations, including the Canadian Jewish Congress, petitioned the Government of Quebec Province today to enact an amendment to the Hotel Act to forbid discriminatory practices on the basis of race, religion, color or ancestry. Under the proposed amendment, fines ranging from $100 to $500 would be imposed on individuals or corporations practicing such bias.
