Dr. Emanuel Neumann, honorary president of the Zionist Organization of America and chairman of the Jewish Agency, American section, left for Israel today to attend the annual convention of the ZOA, as well as the World Conference of General Zionists. Before his departure, Dr. Neumann said that during his stay in Israel he also plans “to confer with the Jewish Agency executive in Jerusalem on recent important developments.”
Commenting on the forthcoming convention of the ZOA in Israel, which will be attended by more than 1200 delegates and visitors from the United States, Dr. Neumann pointed out that “this was the first time that any Zionist Organization in the Diaspora was holding its convention in Israel.” He expressed the hope that this would set a precedent for Zionist groups in America and other countries.
Regarding the World Conference of General Zionists to be held in Tel-Aviv, Dr. Neumann stated that its purpose is to reorganize the World Confederation of which he is President, by enlarging its base to include many groups and organizations not hitherto affiliated with it. The conference will be attended by delegates from Europe, North and South America, Australia and Israel.
