The White House confirmed today that President Kennedy had written to Prime Minister Levi Eshkol of Israel, but declined to reveal the nature of the communication. Jerusalem dispatches described the missive as a continuation of correspondence Mr. Kennedy had previously conducted with the former Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion. The correspondence reportedly concerned Mr. Ben-Gurion’s appeal to both the United States and the Soviet Union for full guarantees of Israel’s security.
