A proposal that the Catholic Church should deal with Catholic-Jewish relationships in view of the “particular relations” between Jews and the Catholic Church was made to the Ecumenical Council Vatican II here today. The suggestion came during the debate on the formulation of the document known as “De Ecclesia, ” currently under discussion.

The proposal was voiced by Augustin Cardinal Bea, president of the Vatican’s Secretariat for Christian Unity. He suggested that, in the section of the “schema” dealing with non-Christians, special mention should be made of the Jews.
