Eggs and rotten apples were showered yesterday on Colin Jordan, leader of the British National Socialist movement, and Francoise Dior, when they emerged from the Coventry Register Office as man and wife.
More than 1, 000 persons, including members of anti-Fascist movements, assembled near the office to boo the newlyweds and to pelt them with eggs, apples and lumps of turf thrown over the heads of a police cordon. Jordan’s wife, niece of the late fashion designer, Christian Dior, called herself “a perfect Nazi. ” Today she and her husband took part in a second marriage ceremony at the headquarters of the British National Socialist movement, observing the “old Nordic custom” of cutting their fingers and letting their blood mingle.
The bride’s aunt, Miss Catherine Dior, said: “The good name of my brother, Christian Dior, must not be used to feature the scandal with the risk of tarnishing a name borne with honor and patriotism by the members of my family. ” She signed her statement “Catherine Dior, Medal of the Resistance, Croix de Guerre, deportee at Ravensbruck.” Ravens-bruck was a Nazi concentration camp.
