The deterioration of the position of Soviet Jewry and the activities of Christian missionaries in Israel were among the subjects discussed at a two day conference of the Standing Committee of European Rabbis which concluded here today. The conference, which was under the chairmanship of British Chief Rabbi Israel Brodie, was attended by the chief rabbis of France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.

The Committee reviewed the work of the last conference held in Basle, Switzerland, earlier this year and discussed the implementation of a number of resolutions. Grand Rabbi Jacob Kaplan of France outlined efforts being made to provide adequate religious education facilities for Jews who arrived in France from Algeria and other parts of North Africa. It was decided to hold the next conference in London in the spring of 1964.
