George Cabot Lodge, Harvard University faculty member and former U. S. Cabinet official, has proposed an “updating” of the Judeo Christian heritage to fit the disclosures of science and thus advance the cause of western civilization.

Mr. Lodge, son of Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge, made the proposal an address at Congregation Rodeph Shalom commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Jewish Chautauqua Society. S. M. Liebowitz of New York, chancellor of the Society, described its founding in Philadelphia 70 years ago by Rabbi Henry Berkowitz as a project of American Reform Judaism. It seeks to eliminate religious hatred through education.
