President Johnson Lauds America-israel Cultural Foundation Work

President Johnson commended the America-Israel Cultural Foundation for promoting cultural exchange between Israel and the United States and paid tribute to Robert S. Benjamin in a message sent to the Foundation as annual concert, which was held tonight at the Americana Hotel.

Robert S. Benjamin, chairman of the United States Committee for the United Nation and chairman of the board of United Artists, received the Foundation’s annual award for his contributions to cultural exchange and the Foundation’s programs for Israeli cultural life. Samuel Rubin, president of the Foundation, presented the award, a plaque.

Some 1, 200 guests, among them diplomatic leaders and noted figures in government, community and cultural life, attended the dinner where $200, 000 was raised for the Foundations cultural programs to Israel. These include support of 50 cultural projects in Israel, cultural exchanges between the United States and Israel, and a scholarship program for gifted young Israelis in the arts for study in Israel and abroad.
