The Jewish population of metropolitan Toronto increased over the decade 1951-1961 by 32. 8 per cent, going up from 66, 904 to 88,648, according to statistical data from government censuses compiled for the Canadian Jewish Congress by Louis Rosenberg, research director for the CJC. At the same time, the figures showed, the number of Jews in the central parts of the city had gone down, while those in the suburbs had increased.
