The Public Prosecutor’s office here today offered a $2, 500 reward for information leading to the arrest of Hans Walter Zech-Nenntwich, the convicted Nazi war criminal who escaped last week from a maximum security prison here, fleeing to Switzerland. It was believed in Switzerland that Zech-Nenntwich has already left that country for a possible hideout in South America.
Police here meanwhile released Werner Plaetzer, a textile buyer from Nordhorn, who was detained last weekend along with two other men on suspicion of having helped Zech-Nenntwich to escape. The other two men, Dietrich Zeeman, a prison warden, and Herman Gutteck, a former cell mate, are still being detained.
