The Chilean Chamber of Deputies held a special session today in honor of the 16th anniversary of Israel’s independence which was attended by Israel Ambassador Naor. The Chilean Senate held a similar observance on May 5.
Speakers of all parties alluded to the persecutions of the Jews and lauded the progress of Israel in all fields in line with the principles of democracy and liberty. All speakers expressed hopes of peace for Israel.
Communist Deputy Rosales also denounced anti-Semitic persecution and voiced the hope that Israel and the Arab states would reach fraternal understanding. The Deputies sent their congratulations to President Zalman Shazar and the Knesset.
