Ali Sabri, Egyptian President Nasser’s foreign adviser, arrived in Canberra today on his 15-nation mission to seek support for Arab opposition to Israel’s National Water Carrier project.

His appearance in Australia was his fourth stop. He has already visited Cambodia, Thailand and Burma, and said that the Arab case had been received “with perception” only by Cambodia and Burma. He said he plans to present to Australian Prime Minister Robert Menzies the view that Israel’s position in the Middle East is an “aggressive one,” and that the Arab countries have decided to thwart Israel’s plans to tap the Jordan River by “diverting the headwaters of the River.”

Australian newspapers noted that the Prime Minister has already indicated his views toward Israel by scheduling a visit to Israel on June 16, the first such trip by an Australian Prime Minister.
