The Arab League was accused tonight of plotting to attempt to wreck Pope Paul’s efforts to bring about better understanding between Christianity and Judaism.

Arnold Forster, general counsel of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, charged that Arab propagandists have arrived in the United States to seek to persuade American Catholic Bishops to take their side when the Ecumenical Council reconvenes in Rome in September. However, Mr. Eorster declared, American bishops have turned “a cold shoulder to the Arab plans.”

“The Arab purpose is to prevent the Roman Catholic Church from considering a reinterpretation of the Crucifixion story.” Mr. Forster told 1,500 delegates from New York and New England at the 112th annual convention of District No. 1 B’nai B’rith at the Hotel Concord here.

At the meeting, Assistant United States Attorney Moses L. Kove, of New York, a Nuremberg War Crime Prosecutor, was elected president of District No. 1 B’nai B’rith to succeed Dr. Alexander Lipson of Toronto, Canada.
