Dr. Robert White, head of the United States Meteorological Department, arrived here today to open the U.S. Pavilion at the International Trade Fair opening here tomorrow. Dr. White will replace Undersecretary of Commerce Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. who was forced to cancel his participation due to urgent Government business. Mr. Roosevelt’s son, Christopher, will represent his father personally at the ceremonies. Thirty-eight countries are participating in the Fair with exhibits.

In a message to the people of Israel in connection with the opening of the Fair, President Lyndon B. Johnson said that the American pavilion would open “a new avenue for the expansion of trade between our two nations.” Noting that the Fair promised “to generate more trade and more prosperity for the people of both of our countries,” President Johnson expressed confidence that “this mutual promise will be fulfilled.”
