A Moscow court has imposed a five-year jail sentence on a Soviet citizen who was found guilty of promoting the sale of anti-Semitic and anti-Soviet literature and of trafficking in obscene books, according to a report published in Vechernyaya Moskva, a Moscow evening newspaper.

The paper said that Valentin Ryskov had masterminded a 10-man ring that dealt in the illegal publications. Ryskov was said to have centered his operations in Moscow, obtaining what the newspaper called “rampant erotic literature, rabid anti-Soviet publications and outright anti-Semitic literature” from publishing houses in Madrid, Munich and New York.
