Israel’s National Water Carrier, which taps the Jordan River through Lake Tiberias, has been in operation since June 10, the annual report of the Agricultural Ministry disclosed today.
The report also said that, by the end of the current fiscal year, the project will have cost more than 300,000,000 pounds ($100,000,000.) The massive irrigation project is the target of threats by neighboring Arab countries to divert headwaters of the Jordan River, and thus deny those waters to Israel. Israel has warned it would consider such projects as aggressive acts.
