President of Tel Aviv University Appeals to Municipality for Aid

Dr. George Wise, president of Tel Aviv University, called on this city’s Municipality here today to support the University both in achieving financial aid and in recognition of its academic rights. Speaking at a special session of the Municipality, Dr. Wise predicted that, once Tel Aviv University is fully accredited by the Council of Higher Education, many students from abroad will come to study here.

Professor Yuval Neeman, Deputy Rector of the University and head of the physics. department, said that a space laboratory will be constructed for his department. He also noted that a cooperative program had been arranged between the physics department and the staff of the atomic reactor at Nahal Sorek in which the atomic scientists have agreed to lecture at the University. He also announced that a special course for secondary school teachers will be given by the University to brief them on modern developments in physics.
