The Joint Distribution Committee is giving aid to Jewish victims of floods caused by torrential rains in southern Tunisia, and also providing the Tunisian Government with 50 tons of United States surplus food supplies for general relief in the stricken area.
Charles H. Jordan, JDC director general, also reported that 15 Jewish families were among the 3,000 Tunisians made homeless in Zarzis, a mainland town. The JDC office in Tunis has provided food and blankets for the Jewish victims, and they have been provided temporary housing until they can return to their homes. There are no Jewish casualties among the seven Tunisians reported dead in the floods.
