The completion of a $250,000 radio communications network to enable the Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical and first aid service, to maintain constant contact with ambulances throughout the country, was announced here today by Rep. Emanuel Celler, national chairman of the American Red Mogen Dovid, the organization which financed the network.
Rep. Celler said that the network, which extends from Kiryat Shmona in Upper Galilee to Beersheba, will enable the Magen David Adom to redirect ambulances out on emergency calls without their having to return to their bases. On arrival at the scene of an emergency, he said, each ambulance will be able to radio back for help, alert hospitals to incoming cases, or possibly head off other ambulances converging on the scene if their presence is not required.
