Special state commissions to deal with the distribution of funds under the recently enacted Federal education act have been established in 32 states by Torah Umesorah, the National Society for Hebrew Day Schools, it was announced here today by Amos Bunim, chairman of the organization’s executive committee.
Mr. Bunim told a one-day conference of Hebrew day school educators that the state commissions will deal with such matters as fund allocations, libraries, laboratories, educational materials and the enrichment of the secular curriculum of the Hebrew day schools.
Other speakers at the conference included Sen. Harrison A. Williams, Jr., of New Jersey; Dr. Samuel Halperin, director of legislation of the United States Office of Education; and Moses I. Feuerstein, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America.
