Japanese Jewish Cultural Society to Publish Sholem Aleichem Works

The first publishing venture of the newly formed Japanese Jewish Cultural Society will be Japanese translations of several books by Sholom Aleichem, it was announced here today.

The translator is Abraham Sannaki, a Japanese who converted to Judaism five years ago and has since learned Hebrew and Yiddish. The aims of the Japanese Jewish Cultural Society is to introduce the Japanese people to Jewish cultural values and Hebrew and Yiddish literature.
