The Rabbinical Alliance of America concluded its annual convention here with the adoption of a resolution calling for the establishment of a “United Orthodox Council to represent the collective viewpoints of all Orthodox rabbinic and lay organizations in the United States.” The delegates also agreed to oppose all Federal or state legislation concerning Jewish ritual slaughter.
In other resolutions, the delegates praised President Johnson’s aid to education and anti-poverty programs and urged the formation of a religious bloc in Israel which would combine all candidates of the various religious parties in Israel in one slate for the forthcoming Knesset elections. Rabbi Abraham B. Hecht was reelected president of the group.
