Solomon Teff, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, protested again today to Postmaster General Anthony Wedgwood-Benn against his refusal to cancel distribution of the new “Battle of Britain” postage stamp which has a swastika as part of its design.
Mr. Wedgwood-Benn had refused to cancel the stamp when he was requested to do so last week in five interventions in the House of Commons and one in the House of Lords. The refusal, Mr. Teff stated in a letter to the Postmaster General, “fails to meet the objections raised.” “The swastika symbol is currently being used by the neo-Nazis in this country and in other countries in connection with the most hateful propaganda,” he declared.
