About 500 youngsters jammed the streets in the Hatilova section of Tel Aviv, blocking traffic, stopping cars and molesting passersby until police moved in.
The police arrested 45 of the youths, aged 16 to 22 and dispersed the mob. They said the area had been a center of hooliganism in recent months. On Sunday night, the youths assembled to see “races” between cars stolen from northern Tel Aviv. When only one car arrived, the disappointed youths spilled into the streets, shouting “we want youth clubs” and later started throwing stones.
