Israeli journalists today launched a 24-hour strike protesting the new libel law. The strike will stop publication of 22 Israeli daily newspapers tomorrow. It will black out radio news casts from dawn to midnight. The decision was announced today by the executive committee of the Israel Journalists Association.

The organized journalists contend that some clauses of the new law impinge on the principles of freedom of the press. The association threatened to strike when the Knesset, (Parliament) passed the law, over its vigorous protests, but delayed the walk-out until after the national elections, which were held November 2.
