U.S. Philanthropist Establishes Chair for Education at Hebrew U.

The Hebrew University here announced today receipt of a contribution of $150,000 from Samuel M. Melton, of Columbus, Ohio, for the establishment of a chair for secondary education. The chair, to be named after Samuel and Esther Melton, will aid the expansion of the university’s teacher training program, it was stated.

The American Friends of the Hebrew University has secured $3,000,000 in loans from American banks based on pledges by donors for the expansion of the university’s science departments, it was reported here today. to this sum will be added another $1,500,000 from the Israel Government under the terms of an agreement between the Government, the university and the American Friends organization providing for Government grants of one dollar to match every two dollars raised by the American group.
