Mrs. Golda Meir, for many years Israel’s Foreign Minister, was formally elected today secretary general of Premier Eshkol’s Mapai party by the Mapai Secretariat and Central Committee. Mrs. Meir, who retired as Foreign Minister last month, agreed to accept the post last night at a meeting of the Mapai Appointments Committee.
