Joseph Leftwich, noted English-Jewish author and former London editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, was honored here last night at a reception given to him by the Yiddish P.E.N. Club, organization of American Jewish poets, editors, essayists and novelists. Several hundred Jewish literary men and women attended the event which was addressed by a number of noted Yiddish writers.

Aaron Leyeless-Glanz, president of the Yiddish P.E.N. Club, in greeting Mr. Leftwich, outlined his role in Jewish literature and in translating the works of numerous Yiddish writers into English. Mr. Leftwich, who came to the United States to attend the recent International P.E.N. convention, spoke of the role of Jewish literature in world culture.
