A group of Protestant ministers and Catholic priests met at Beth Jeshurun synagogue to discuss a series of vandalistic attacks on Boston synagogues shortly after the synagogue was desecrated for the third time in three weeks.

The meeting was arranged by the Jewish Community Council of Metropolitan Boston to consider ways of ending the desecrations. On June 14, five youths were surprised in the building by Julius Epstein, 83, who was attacked by the intruders. He suffered severe facial cuts. George Frank, president of the congregation, offered a reward for the return of a number of religious articles stolen by the youths. He said the police had been completely cooperative in efforts to find the vandals.
