An American Nazi Party lieutenant was fined $300 yesterday on charges of disorderly conduct arising from a Nazi march Saturday in a South side Chicago Negro district. Magistrate Maurice Lee imposed the fine on Ralph Forbes after the Nazi waived a jury trial. He was also found guilty of interfering with police officers when they arrested George Rockwell, American Nazi Party head, who led the march despite refusal of Chicago officials to give him a parade permit.
Magistrate James Sullivan at the same time continued until September 20 a court hearing on charges against Rockwell of holding a public meeting and soliciting funds in a Chicago public park without permits. Rockwell obtained a postponement when he said he needed more time to get an attorney. He said he would ask the American Civil Liberties Union to represent him in court. He remained free under $500 bond.
