Vladimir I. Veksler, a leading Soviet physicist, and a Jew, died Thursday in Moscow at the age of 59, according to Tass, the official Soviet news agency.
Dr. Veksler, a member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, was a specialist on X-rays, cosmic rays and the accelerator theory. He was active in the USSR’s nuclear research program.
Nikolai Bogolyubov, director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, at Dubna, was quoted as saying that the death of the scientist was a great loss to world science.
