Leon Sourasky, Pioneer in Mexican Jewish Community, Dies at 77

Leon Sourasky, one of the pioneers of the Mexican Jewish community, died here at the age of 77. Born in Bialystok, Mr. Sourasky lived in England and in the United States before emigrating to Mexico in 1917. A founder of some of the earliest Jewish social and philanthropic institutions here, Mr. Sourasky served as president of the Jewish Relief Society and of the Society for the Study of the History of Mexican Jewry. He was the author of “A History of Mexican Jewry.”
