Rep. Ogden Reid, New York Republican who formerly served as U.S. Ambassador to Israel, said today in a House speech that the time has come for the United States Government to make it clear (to Syria) that America intends to guarantee “the independence and integrity” of all Middle East countries. He said that recent actions against Israel by Arab terrorists were “part of a pattern,” and that Radio Damascus openly admitted that the saboteurs had come from Syria.

Another Congressman, Rep. Frank Horton, New York Republican, called on the United States to reaffirm support for Israel. He termed Israel “the bastion of democracy in the region.” Rep. Abraham J. Multer, New York Democrat, also voiced concern about recent developments in the Middle East.
