An automobile was severely damaged today when it ran over a mine on an Israeli road in the vicinity of Dan, in northern Galilee, near the Syrian border. None of the occupants of the vehicle was injured. Israel immediately lodged a new complaint with the Israel-Syrian Mixed Armistice Commission over the latest incident, which followed a number of similar mining’s of Israeli vehicles during the past two weeks. All had been traced to El Fatah terrorists, who had infiltrated from across the Syrian border.
Earlier this weekend, a souvenir shop for tourists near Ein Gedi, on the Israeli shore of the Dead Sea, was blown up in an action also attributed to El Fatah terrorists. There were no casualties in this incident because the shop, operated by members of the Ein Gedi kibbutz, is not manned evenings, and is usually open only during the tourist season. Footprints of three persons were traced to the Jordanian border, and Israel filed a complaint with the Israel-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission.
