Synagogue Marriages in England Reported Dropping, Survey Establishes

Synagogue marriages in England, Scotland and Wales have dropped from 2,876 a year in the period 1941-1950 to 1,816 annually for the period 1961-1965, representing a decline of 37 percent over the 20-year period, it was reported today at the monthly meeting of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. The figures are the results of a survey of synagogue marriages undertaken by the statistical and demographic research unit.
