The first Israeli-made rifles and light machine guns have been phased into Israeli army equipment, Bamachanch, the Israeli Army organ reported today.

The Israeli arms industry received permission from Belgian and British patent owners of the 76-mm service rifle for limited production only for Israeli army use. This is the first time the Israeli arms industry has produced service rifles. Small arms production locally has until now made only the Sten Gun, dating from the pre-state period, and later the famous Uzzi submachine gun.
