Group Approves Plan to Strengthen Zionist Consciousness in Israel

The Israel Committee for World Zionist Problems approved here last night a plan to form a council to increase Zionist consciousness in Israel The proposal will be presented next week to a world committee examining the structure of Zionist organization.

The proposed council will be made up of 130 members from various organizations and groups in Israel, including Israel’s Parliament. It will work through the existing World Zionist Organization structure.

The world committee, which is examining the structure of the Zionist movement, will convene in Jerusalem prior to the session of the Zionist Actions Committee which is to open its session here on January 8. Regional committees are reported to have completed their work of surveying the structure of the Zionist movement locally.

The Zionist Actions Committee, which is the supreme body of the World Zionist Organization between Zionist Congresses, will discuss principally the immigration and absorption problems in Israel of which the Jewish Agency is in charge. A report of the world committee on the structure of the Zionist movement will also be one of the major items on the agenda. The Action Committee session will be addressed by Premier Levi Eshkol and Minister of Finance Pinhas Sapir on Israel’s economic problems.
