The 3,000-member Jewish Students Union of France opened its congress in Bordeaux to expand its program of social and cultural activities and support of Israel.

One of the problems is that the Student Union has failed to capitalize on the tremendous recent expansion of French Jewry as a result of immigration from North Africa. Other issues before the Congress are the situation of the Jews in the Soviet Union and anti-Semitism in France.
