Bruno Pitterman, Vice-Chancellor of Austria, said today at the close of the Socialist International conference, that the pledge of support for Israel’s efforts for an associate status with the European Economic Community by the Socialist parties of Europe had been reaffirmed at the conference.
Mrs. Golda Meir, secretary of Israel’s Mapai Party, said at a press conference that she was satisfied with the results of the meeting but gave no details on her contributions to the conference. Dr. Pitterman said that Mrs. Meir had reported on Israel’s economic situation particularly in connection with Israel’s efforts for a more comprehensive agreement with the six-nation European Common Market. Israel’s present limited agreement expires on June 30.
