Samuel J. Silberman was reelected for a second year as president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies here, it was announced today. He has been active in Federation’s annual drives for many years and in other philanthropic causes.
Three community leaders were elected as vice presidents of Federation: George H. Heyman, Jr., a stockbroker; Herbert M. Singer, attorney and a former trustee of Beth Israel Medical Center; and Mrs. Maurice Wertheim, a trustee-at-large of Federation for ten years, and a leader in Federation’s women’s division. Reelected as vice presidents were: Allan D. Emil, Mrs. Alan H. Kempner, Harry Leventhal, Bernard J. Lasker, Lawrence Marx, Jr., and Harry Waxman.
Louis Bachmann, a former vice president, was elected secretary of the board, and Salim Lewis acceded to the post of board chairman. Other officers reelected to their posts include Richard Goldsmith, treasurer, and Dr. David G. Salten, executive vice-president.
