White House press spokesman George Christian indicated today that the Department of State misrepresented United States policy by a statement issued earlier today that the United States was “neutral” in the Arab-Israel war. (See the State Department’s statement on Page 2.) Mr. Christian said the United States remains firmly committed as President Johnson has stated, to the independence and territorial integrity of all the states of the region.
